Tune up the unicycle! Tony-nominated Pippin star Terrence Mann will take a hiatus from the Tony-winning hit revival, and two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber will take his place as knife-throwing, unicycle-riding King Charles in the interim. Sieber will perform from September 1 through 4 and September 15 through 26 while Mann is on vacation. Directed by Diane Paulus, Pippin is currently playing at the Music Box Theatre on Broadway.
Sieber garnered Tony Award nominations for Spamalot and Shrek the Musical. His additional Broadway credits include La Cage aux Folles, Into the Woods, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Triumph of Love, Chicago and Beauty and the Beast. His film and TV credits include Two of a Kind, Pushing Daisies, The Good Wife, Elementary and It’s All Relative.
Pippin features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson. In addition to Mann, Pippin stars Matthew James Thomas as Pippin, Tony winner Patina Miller as the Leading Player, Tony nominee Charlotte d’Amboise as Fastrada, Rachel Bay Jones as Catherine and two-time Tony winner Andrea Martin as Berthe. As previously announced, Martin will depart the production on September 22. No replacement for the star has been announced.
